A Summery Performance From Rob Wilson

The Davenport Big Lounge at Ashton Care Home was alive with colour, music and movement this month as residents came together to enjoy a sunny celebration. Rob Wilson is one of our residents' favourite entertainers and this time came wearing a bold yellow suit that perfectly matched our summery theme. Our residents clapped, sang along and danced from the comfort of their chairs while filling the room with energy and smiles.
Rob's performance featured a selection of light-hearted classics and feel-good favourites, and residents eagerly joined in by shaking maracas, bells and tambourines in time with the music. Many of the songs sparked fond memories as they reminded our residents of dance halls, concerts and festivals from years gone by. For some, it was a trip down memory lane to days spent listening to cherished records on the radio or gramophone. For others, it was simply a chance to enjoy the company of friends in a warm and supportive setting.
Music has always played a valuable role at The Ashton. It lifts the spirits, connects people and often brings comfort through familiar tunes and rhythms. Events like this are both entertaining and help boost well-being by encouraging gentle movement and shared laughter.

To add to the celebration, our wonderful catering team laid out a beautiful buffet tea with a patriotic twist. In honour of the 1945 theme, residents tucked into dishes that sparked memories of post-war celebrations and traditional British fare. The showstopper of the buffet was a stunning homemade cake that was kindly made by our talented chef.
These shared moments of joy and remembrance are at the heart of life here at The Ashton. Events like this one give our residents the chance to connect, reminisce and simply enjoy the present moment in a place they can call home.
