Dementia Care

Dementia is a progressive condition that affects parts of the brain which often hinders one’s memory, thinking abilities and social skills. Residents living with dementia can continue to live a fulfilled life with the help of our specialist dementia care service. We provide specialist care and support in order to better a person’s life while helping to retain their independence for as long as possible.

We know that every resident with dementia requires a different level of care, as there are different types and stages of the condition. If a resident’s care requirements change over the course of their stay, we will reassess their situation and alter care plans to ensure the right care is always being given.

Respite Care

Respite care is a type of care that is available on a short-term basis, usually a few weeks or months depending on the person’s circumstances. Respite care is a great solution for full-time carers who are in need of a break from their caregiving responsibilities. Our staff can provide the care a person needs until they are ready to return home.

Respite care is also an appropriate care option for those who have recently had an operation or illness, and are not quite ready to continue with their usual routines. Prospective residents can use respite care as a way of trialling a care home for a few weeks before making the decision whether to move in on a permanent basis.

Providing Our Support During a Time of Need

Knowing when is the right time to move a loved one to a care home can be a stressful time. It may be that you have noticed a loved one is finding it difficult to upkeep their household, they are unsteady on their feet or that they are showing symptoms of memory loss. We want to make the process that little bit easier and welcome you into our home to discuss the care requirements of the individual seeking care.

The extensively trained team at The Ashton understand that every resident requires varying levels of care that’s why we always evaluate residents closely following their admission in order to develop a suitable care plan.
