Reminiscence Session With Hinckley Past & Present Brings Joy to Residents

We were absolutely delighted to welcome Hinckley Past & Present into our home for a special reminiscence session, which brought smiles, stories and a real sense of community spirit. The session gave residents a chance to step back in time and reflect on the many changes Hinckley has seen over the years.

As part of the afternoon, residents enjoyed sharing their own personal memories of growing up in the area, from tales of bustling market days to what the town centre looked like decades ago. Old photographs sparked wonderful conversations, prompting laughter and heartfelt stories that brought back cherished moments and helped residents reconnect with their past.

It was especially moving to see how many of our residents remembered the same local landmarks, events and even shopkeepers. The room quickly filled with warmth, not just from the memories being shared but from the sense of belonging that these conversations sparked. For many, it was a chance to reflect on how far the town has come while celebrating the strong community ties that still hold it together.

Sessions like this are so important in helping residents feel connected to both their own life stories and to the wider community. At The Ashton, our residents' feedback shapes the way our home runs, and it is important to us that our activities truly reflect who they are and what they are interested in.
